The design of a high-pressure tundish nozzle focuses on two main factors: flow control and durability. The nozzle must be able to handle high-pressure flow rates of molten metal without wearing out or clogging.

One common design for a high-pressure tundish nozzle is a double-layered structure. The inner layer, usually made of zirconia or alumina, provides a smooth surface to minimize turbulence and maintain a consistent flow rate. The outer layer, made of a more durable material like silicon carbide or graphite, provides protection against erosion and thermal shock.

Other design features of a high-pressure tundish nozzle include a tapered shape to control the velocity of the molten metal and reduce turbulence, and a sliding gate mechanism to control the flow rate.
