Low-oxygen silicon metal powder is a specialized material used in aerospace applications. It is used in the manufacture of aerospace components, such as rocket nozzles and heat shields, where its high temperature resistance and low thermal expansion properties are critical.

The production of low-oxygen silicon metal powder involves several steps. First, silica is extracted from sand or quartz using a chemical process. Then, the silica is reduced with carbon at high temperatures to produce silicon metal. The silicon metal is then refined using a special process to reduce the oxygen content to less than 100 parts per million (ppm). The low-oxygen silicon metal is then ground into a fine powder using a ball mill or other similar equipment.
