DESCRIPTION
High Carbon Ferro Silicon (HCFeSi) is an alloy made up of iron, silicon, and carbon, with carbon content typically ranging from 0.5% to 6%. It is a deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and alloying agent used in steelmaking and foundry applications.
HCFeSi is produced by reducing silica with high-purity coke or coal in an electric arc furnace. The resulting alloy is then crushed into various particle sizes and used as an additive in the steelmaking process.
The addition of HCFeSi to steel helps to improve its mechanical properties, such as strength and hardness, and can also improve its resistance to corrosion and wear. HCFeSi can also be used as a reductant in the production of other ferroalloys, such as ferrochrome and ferromanganese.
