DESCRIPTION
Silicon carbide has black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide two commonly used varieties. Black silicon carbide containing SiC about 95%, its toughness is higher than green silicon carbide, mostly used for processing low tensile strength materials, such as glass, ceramics, stone, refractory materials, cast iron and non-ferrous metals.
Silicon carbide because of its stable chemical properties, high thermal conductivity, small thermal expansion coefficient, good wear resistance, in addition to abrasive, there are many other uses. Pure silicon carbide is colorless, and industrial production of brown to black is due to the impurity of iron. The iridescent sheen of the crystal is due to a protective layer of silica on its surface.
