DESCRIPTION

Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC) is a high-purity carbon material produced by heating green petroleum coke to a temperature between 1200 and 1600°C, which drives off volatile hydrocarbons and moisture. CPC is used as a carbon additive in the production of steel, aluminum, and other metals.

The use of CPC as a carbon additive offers several benefits. First, it acts as a source of carbon, which is necessary for the reduction of metal oxides to their elemental form during smelting. Second, it can improve the quality of the final product by reducing impurities and increasing the carbon content. Finally, it can reduce the cost of production by lowering the amount of primary metal needed.

  • Fixed Carbon content: 98% minimum
  • Ash content: 0.5% maximum
  • Volatile matter content: 0.5% maximum
  • Sulfur content: 0.5% maximum
  • Moisture content: 0.5% maximum
  • Particle size distribution: typically between 0.5 and 4 millimeters (or as per customer requirements)
  • Bulk density: 0.85-1.3 g/cm3 (depending on particle size)
  • Specific gravity: 2.1-2.2
  • Electrical resistivity: 500-800 micro-ohm-cm (depending on particle size)
