DESCRIPTION

FerroSilicon is commonly used as a deoxidizer in the steelmaking process to remove oxygen and other impurities from molten steel. Oxygen is a common impurity in molten steel, and if left unchecked, it can cause porosity, brittleness, and other defects in the final product.

During the steelmaking process, FerroSilicon is added to molten steel in the form of small pellets or grains. The FerroSilicon reacts with the oxygen in the steel to form silicon dioxide and iron oxide, which are then removed as slag from the molten steel.

The amount of FerroSilicon added to the steel can vary depending on the specific application and desired properties of the final product. Typically, a higher silicon content FerroSilicon is used as a deoxidizer, such as FerroSilicon 75%, which contains approximately 75% silicon and 25% iron.

In addition to its deoxidizing properties, FerroSilicon can also act as an alloying agent in the steelmaking process, improving the final properties of the steel such as strength, hardness, and resistance to corrosion. This makes it a versatile and widely used additive in the steel industry.
