DESCRIPTION
Ferrosilicon is an essential alloy in the production of iron and iron. Ferrosilicon is made by reducing silicon dioxide or sand with coke in the presence of iron. Ferrosilicon is used as a source of silicon to reduce metals from oxides and to deoxidize steel and other ferroalloys. In the manufacture of cast iron, ferrosilicon is used to inoculate iron to accelerate graphitization.
