DESCRIPTION
Graphitized petroleum coke is a type of carbon material that is used in many industries due to its high electrical conductivity. This material is produced by heating petroleum coke to extremely high temperatures in the absence of air. During this process, the impurities in the petroleum coke are removed and the carbon content is increased, resulting in a highly pure and dense form of carbon.
Graphitized petroleum coke is commonly used in the production of electrodes for electric arc furnaces and for other applications where high electrical conductivity is required. It is also used as a filler material in the production of refractory products such as bricks, castables, and gunning mixes.
The electrical conductivity of graphitized petroleum coke is due to the high carbon content and the ordered arrangement of the carbon atoms in the material. The high carbon content allows for a large number of free electrons to be present, which are responsible for the material’s conductivity. The ordered arrangement of the carbon atoms also contributes to the electrical conductivity by creating a continuous network of carbon atoms that can easily conduct electricity.
