DESCRIPTION
Ferrosilicon is an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is an iron-silicon alloy made by smelting coke, steel chips, quartz (or silica) as raw materials and using an electric furnace. Because silicon and oxygen are easily synthesized into silica, ferrosilicon is often used as an oxygen absorber in steelmaking, and because SiO2 is generated to release a large amount of heat, it is also beneficial to increase the temperature of molten steel while deoxidizing. At the same time, ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying element additives, widely used in low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel, ferrosilicon in ferrosilicon alloy production and chemical industry, often used as a reducing agent.
Ferrosilicon is made of coke, steel chips, quartz (or silica) as raw materials, smelted by electric furnace. Conventional ferrosilicon refining involves the reduction of silicon from silica containing SIO2. Most of the metallurgical coke is used as a reducing agent for smelting ferrosilicon, and steel chips are regulators of ferrosilicon.
