Ferro Silicon is an alloy of iron and silicon. Ferro Silicon is made by smelting with coke, steel chips, quartz (or silica) as raw materials. Since silicon and oxygen are easy to combine into silicon dioxide, ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steelmaking. Meanwhile, due to the large amount of heat released during the formation of SiO2, it is also beneficial to improve the temperature of molten steel while deoxidizing.
