DESCRIPTION
China Ferrosilicon is used as a source of silicon to reduce oxides and deoxidized steels and other ferrous alloys of the metal. This prevents carbon loss in molten steel (so-called heat resistance); Ferromanganese, spiegeleisen, calcium silicide and many other materials are used for the same purpose.
China Ferrosilicon can be used to make other ferroalloys. Ferrosilicon is also used in the manufacture of silicon, corrosion- and high-temperature resistant ferrous silicon alloys, and silicon steel for motor and transformer cores. In cast iron production, iron is bred with ferrosilicon to accelerate graphitization. In arc welding, ferrosilicon can be found in some electrode coatings.
China Ferrosilicon (FeSi) is the basis for the manufacture of pre-alloys for the modification of molten malleable cast iron. Ferrosilicon, as an additive to cast iron, is also important for controlling the initial content of silicon.
