DESCRIPTION
Ferrosilicon is produced by reduction of silica or sand with coke in presence of scrap iron, millscale, or other source of iron. Ferrosilicons with silicon content up to about 15% are made in blast furnaces lined with acid fire bricks.Ferro silicon is a universal “heat blocker” used in the production of carbon and stainless steels. In ferroalloy production and chemical industry, often used as a reducing agent, the production of FeSi is based on natural silica as raw material ,using metallurgical coke as reducing agent and adding a certain amount of iron – bearing materials for smelting.
